BlueTriton Community

How do you contribute to the communities where you operate?

Whether through a strong commitment to water stewardship, volunteering, or community investment, we aim to make a positive impact every day. That is why individuals, communities and organizations all across the country choose to partner with us.

We bring social and economic value to the communities where we operate by creating high-paying jobs with good benefits, hiring local vendors, and paying local taxes, and by sharing our experience in water resource management.

We also invest in many community projects, from watershed protection to waste cleanup to emergency donations. For instance, in Guelph, we have donated $460,000 to the University of Guelph Groundwater Program, which led to an $11 million grant from the federal government to conduct groundwater studies locally. We are also one of the largest sponsors for Friends of Mill Creek, donating $10,000 annually since 2003, supporting efforts of the rehabilitation of Mill Creek.

What are some community initiatives that you are involved in?

Although we are part of a North American company, we are committed to act locally. We are proud to support many deserving organizations in the communities where we operate, including the Guelph General Hospital Foundation, Guelph Community Foundation, Puslinch Minor Soccer Club, Aberfoyle Agriculture Society, Aberfoyle Farmer’s Market, and Food4Kids program.

Not only is our company involved with supporting local charitable organizations, our employees are actively involved in local charitable organizations. For instance, we have employees who are actively involved with the Puslinch Optimist Club, Rotary Club of Guelph, Big Brothers Big Sisters Guelph, Guelph/Wellington Children’s Foundation, Cambridge Ice Hounds and KidsAbility (just to name a few!).

We also do our part to keep our community clean. Twice a year, we have a group of employees who volunteer their time to clean-up portions of Wellington Road 34 that we adopted through the Adopt-a-Road program. Every year at the holiday season, our employees conduct several internal fundraising activities to raise money for local families through the Guelph/Wellington Children’s Foundation Adopt-a-Family program.

Do you donate water to any local or national causes?

We are dedicated to helping ensure communities have access to clean, safe drinking water in times of need. We work on an ongoing basis with relief partners, such as the Red Cross, to help deliver water where and when it is needed. In 2017 alone, we donated more than 700,000 bottles of water to help those affected by the floods and wildfires in British Columbia. In 2018 when there were local boil water advisories in Wellington County, our employees loaded up their cars to deliver water to the communities in need.

We donate an average of 1 million bottles annually to local charities and events.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis in Canada, we donated over 1.5 million bottles of water and counting to hospitals, Food Banks, Communities and the Red Cross and other organizations in need.

Education

When it comes to water education, we take a leadership role in teaching today’s students – from elementary school to doctoral candidates – to appreciate and conserve water. We host school groups at our Puslinch, Ontario and Hope, British Columbia factories throughout the year, and we also partner with educational institutions and organizations who do great work in their communities to protect and preserve our natural resources.

Hear from some of our partners

Over the past three years, BlueTriton Brands has generously donated over 750,000 bottles of water to Project FoodChain, allowing us to distribute life-saving water annually to tens of thousands of Ontario residents experiencing homelessness. Through this outstanding donation, BlueTriton Brands has played an outsized role in preventing heatstroke and dehydration in our most vulnerable citizens, who lack access to clean, running water and are forced to spend long hours outside in the elements. BlueTriton Brands has, quite literally, saved lives. We simply can’t thank Jennifer Kerr and the entire team enough for their extraordinary generosity and compassion.

- Kate Hanley, Co-Founder Project FoodChain

“We’re incredibly grateful for our ongoing relationship with BlueTriton. Since 2020, BlueTriton has provided The Food Bank of Waterloo Region with regular bottled water donations. At The Food Bank, we know that food insecurity and water insecurity often go hand in hand, and that safe, potable water is not always available to everyone. With BlueTriton’s ongoing support, we can continue to ensure that people in our community, particularly those who are experiencing homelessness and/or precarious housing, have access to safe, drinkable water whenever they need it. We’re thankful for BlueTriton’s generosity and we look forward to continuing to work together to support those in need in our community.”

- Kim Wilhelm, CEO The Food Bank of Waterloo Region

BlueTriton Brands and its predecessor has a long history of working with the University of Guelph. After several years of funding, we donated $460,000 in 2016 to the G360 Groundwater Research program, which in 2019 led to an $11 million grant in federal funding. In addition to financial support, we also work closely with the university on local projects. In 2018, a partnership between our company, the University of Guelph, and the Township of Puslinch was formed to drill monitoring wells for the Township of Puslinch. It is a great example of industry, the university, and municipalities working together to protect and understand groundwater resources.

“The ultimate goal is improved groundwater resource utilization policies and public awareness of the importance of sustainable water strategies and we are excited to be able count on your support.”

– Dr. Beth Parker, Director, G360 Institute for Groundwater Research

Hope Mountain Centre for Outdoor Learning is very grateful for our long-standing partnership with BlueTriton. Thanks to their dedication to aquatic conservation, along with their generous financial contributions as key funder of our environmental education programs “Young Stewards of our Wetlands” and “Young Stewards of our Watersheds”, together since 2009 we’ve been able to teach tens of thousands of kids throughout the region both in the classroom and via field trips. This unique place-based learning allows the kids to really understand and connect by seeing and interacting with the ecosystems they’re learning about.
