Sandra Payne - Guelph Girls Hockey Association

In the heart of Guelph, Ontario, the passion for hockey runs deep, especially within the Guelph Girls Hockey Association (GGHA). At the helm of their Guelph Jr. Gryphons U13A team is Sandra Payne, a dedicated Head Coach and champion for the empowerment of young women through sports.

“Having the opportunity to play in the sport of hockey is key for young women,” Sandra emphasizes. "Many of these young women will become leaders in the community, utilizing skills learned in a team environment, such as teamwork and problem-solving, to become pro-social citizens."

BlueTriton Brands Canada is a proud supporter of the U13A team, fueling their journey by supporting quality resources and experiences. These include a week-long training camp with guest speakers on nutrition, adolescent transitions, and proper training, as well as on-ice training sessions; the production of team t-shirts; and covering costs for tournament entry. Such tournaments have taken the team across Ontario, and even to Montreal, broadening the horizons of these young athletes.

In the dynamic landscape of youth sports, collaborations between community organizations and corporations like BlueTriton Brands showcase the power of collective action in driving positive change.

“The GGHA is striving to continue to provide opportunities for young women to play and coach in the sport they love. Continued work is happening to enlist more women in leadership roles to support and promote the women’s game as well as to lead young women to fulfill their goals and dreams within the game and life.”
