Friends of Mill Creek

BlueTriton’s annual donation helps the Friends of Mill Creek undertake fisheries and stream rehabilitation work, including stream bank reconstruction, streamed re-grading, tree planting, culvert replacement and farm fencing repair. This work is done through the Mill Creek Stewardship Ranger Program, comprised of four or five local high school students and a crew leader that work over the summer. BlueTriton Brands and its predecessor has donated over $161,000 to Friends of Mill Creek since 2003. In the summer of 2019, we collaborated with the Mill Creek Rangers on rehabilitating parts of Aberfoyle Creek that run through our property, due to an oil spill that occurred earlier in the year that impacted parts of Mill Creek leaving it unsafe for the Rangers to do their work.

University of Guelph

BlueTriton Brands and its predecessor was the first and largest funder of the University of Guelph G360 program. We have committed to $1 million in funding over five years, and this seed money led to more stakeholder involvement and research partners leading to a $4.5 million project that will support groundwater research in Southern Wellington County, notably Erin and Puslinch. Part of this funding will be used to create high resolution, multilevel groundwater monitoring networks, providing critical information to environmental scientists, planners, policy-makers, and the public. As part of this project, we have worked with the University of Guelph groundwater research team to initiate a monitoring well drilling program in collaboration with the Township of Puslinch. As a result, three monitoring wells were drilled by the University that will provide high resolution groundwater data for the Township, the University of Guelph and for BlueTriton Brands.
